That happened to me too, but only when I used google chrome. I don't know how to fix it, but I can tell you, a good alternative is rockmelt. just like google chrome, but better imo. and it doesn't have that crap on there.

Uninstall public8media.com from the control panel-->Add/Remove programs.
And remove associated extensions with it, Also re-select your search engine.

I tried looking for public8media on my PC but it doesn't exist, also deleted few things from program files and that didn't work aswell.

Just remove the extension and associated files from Chrome then.

Download a antivirus program (If you don't have installed one) and start to search for viruses

There's a common Chrome toolbar that many programs install unknowingly - "DeltaToolbar" or something like that. I had the exact same thing as you. Go into Tools > Extensions... > Delete any toolbar that looks suspicious AND DeltaToolbar if it's there.

This helped me a lot as well - http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ; focuses solely on adware/spyware and does a better job than your standard anti-virus at removing. Get the free trial and it works wonders.

That's what fixed it for me.
