I think you can only donate with paypal accounts so if you got a card link that to your paypal account and then donate?

Credit Cards will not work. Just cancel whatever you did. Get a paypal account and donate properly as it's done.

Have you actually tried to contact Paypal themselves other than asking us?

They'll give you more guidance than we will, I've only got one suggestion I can think of doing and that is: Go onto the old account, if you've lost the password or whatever request a new one, and see if you can re-add the credit card number to that account.
